When I was a kid, my favorite time of the month was when my Mom would make us breakfast for dinner. Breakfast has always been my favorite meal. I am religious about my eggs. Bacon is king. And my mom's silver dollar pancakes are little clouds of heaven.
Fast forward to 20 years later. While reminiscing with my mother, I mentioned how much I loved breakfast for dinner as a kid. How I always looked forward to the end of the month. The end of the month. When rent was due. When money was tight. Which made groceries limited. My mother confessed that breakfast for dinner was her way of saving money. She put her stress aside for us kids and made tiny little pancakes.
That's what Mom's do. They make the world a little less scary, providing shelter from the storms.
My mom deserves more than a cocktail. But it's a start.
